Stream Live TV With Mobdro
Mobdro is an Android app for streaming live TV channels. Being an Android app, it can be installed on smart phones, Android tablets, Android TV boxes and Amazon Fire devices (there are also ways to run Android apps on your PC – Bluestacks is one – but we’ll cover that in a separate article).
Use the following steps to install Mobdro on your device:
- On your device, go to Settings > Security > Unknown Sources. Tick the box.
- Using your device browser, visit www.mobdro.com and use the download button to download Mobdro to your device.
- Once Mobdro has downloaded (you’ll see the download icon at the top of your screen), either:
- Pull the top of the screen down and click Mobdro in the downloads list, or
- Open your Downloads folder from the main Apps list and click Mobdro in the list.
- Click Install in the App information pop-up.
- Once installed, click Open in the install information pop-up.
Mobdro presents TV channels in Category groups. These include News, Movies, Sports, etc. If you know the channel you want to watch, open the Channels category and scroll down the list until you see the channel. Click it to begin watching.
Finding the best channel source
There are often two or more versions of the same channel. This is useful if the first channel you pick isn’t working properly (it glitches or doesn’t play). Keep scrolling down the channel list for alternative streams of the channel you want ,and try each one to find the best source (for UK viewers, the better streams tend to have Filmon in the top right corner when viewing them).
Searching for channels
Notice that magnifying glass icon at the top right? Click that to search for channels. Note: this is just for channel searches. It will not search for individual programmes.
Saving and using Favourites
If you want to save a channel source as a favourite, press the three dots over on the right and click Favorite:
To access your saved Favourites, on the Mobdro home screen, select the hamburger menu at the top left and click Favorites. This will open your Favourites list. To go back to the main screen, click the hamburger menu again and click Categories.
The settings screen
You can access the settings screen via the hamburger menu on the home page. Here you can set various options such as Parental Controls and channel list sorting. You can also change search history settings if you wish. Settings will be saved when you click the back button at the top.
You’ll probably notice in the three-dot menu and the hamburger menu that there are options for downloading programmes and watching them back. These didn’t work for us in our testing. To be fair, it’s probably not a good idea anyhow unless you have lots of space free on your Android device.
Mobdro is free to use but is supported by advertising. You’ll see adverts on the bottom of the various screens but not when watching a programme. Occasionally you will be presented with a full page advert that will play a short (10 seconds) video. Just wait for the video to finish playing and click the ‘x’ in the top-right corner of the following screen, and you’ll be back to where you were.
