Statcounter say Android has overtaken Windows as the most popular online OS
On this day (April 4th) in 1975, Microsoft was born. Over the last 42 years Microsoft software has grown to be the world’s most popular. Until today.
Statcounter have announced that Android is now the world’s most popular operating system in terms of internet usage. This means that more devices running Android connect to the internet than those running Windows.
“This is a milestone in technology history and the end of an era,” says Statcounter CEO, Aodhan Cullen.
The rise of Android has been impressive. Only five years ago, Android held a 2.4% global internet usage share.
