Want the perfect selfie? Adobe Sensei has you covered.
Adobe are launching a new AI platform called Sensei to help spruce up your photos by combining them with elements of other photos and adding easy-to-use tools to help you get the perfect selfie (amongst other things). Sensei is being developed as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud.
“Machine Learning” is The Big Thing™ at the moment. Google (contextual search and Assistant), Amazon (Alexa), Microsoft (Cortana) and Facebook (Flow) are all at it to try and do useful stuff (read: make more money) with all that data they’ve collected about you.
Adobe, not to be left behind and doing everything possible to avoid being irrelevant in today’s world of Instagram, is jumping on the bandwagon with their own (possibly Mr Miyagi – inspired) AI, Sensei.
Sensei aims to add Machine Learning to help you do complex things more easily with Adobe products. The video on their site shows some of the AMAZING things you were never able to do before such as move objects on the screen, look up photos on the web, sort your images into categories and automatically replace badly spelled words in a documents. Quite frankly, we’re amazed. Technology knows no bounds it seems.
Jesting aside, Adobe do have a YouTube advert showing off a mobile app powered by Sensei, which allows you to alter photos and selfies right on your phone with some cool features. Check it out:
The video shows something else Adobe and researchers from Cornell University have been working on, Deep Photo Style Transfer, where elements of one image can be transferred to another with often pleasing results.
The code for Deep Photo Style Transfer has been released on Github for developers to play around with.
Will Sensei help you become 3rd Dan Black Belt photo karate manipulator? We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, don’t forget: wax on, wax off.
